AEP names Linda A. Goodspeed to board of directors

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Oct. 26, 2005 – Linda A. Goodspeed, executive vice president and chief technology officer for Lennox International Inc., has been elected to American Electric Power´s (NYSE: AEP) board of directors, according to Michael G. Morris, AEP´s chairman, president and chief executive officer.

With the election of Goodspeed, AEP´s board now consists of 12 members, 11 of whom are outside directors. Morris is the only inside director.

Goodspeed was appointed to the audit, nuclear oversight and policy committees.

"Linda’s expertise on technology issues and her background in quality improvement in an engineering-driven business environment make her a valuable addition to a corporate board," Morris said. "We´re very pleased that she has agreed to join our board of directors."

Goodspeed, 43, began her career in engineering with Ford Motor Company in 1984. She moved to Nissan research and development in 1989 and joined General Electric in 1996. In 1999, Goodspeed became product general manager of General Electric Appliances and also became general manager in 1999 for Six Sigma, managing a team of 160 GE quality leaders spanning operations across the company. In 2000, Goodspeed became president and chief operating officer for Partminer, Inc., a privately held electronics B2B supply chain parts and service company. She joined Lennox International in her current position in 2001.

Goodspeed earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University in 1984 and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan in 1989.

Goodspeed is on the board of directors for Columbus McKinnon Corporation.

American Electric Power owns more than 36,000 megawatts of generating capacity in the United States and is the nation´s largest electricity generator. AEP is also one of the largest electric utilities in the United States, with more than 5 million customers linked to AEP´s 11-state electricity transmission and distribution grid. The company is based in Columbus, Ohio.
