ROANOKE, Va., June 9, 2025 – As the summer storm season approaches, Appalachian Power Company (APCo) is committed to ensuring the safety of its customers, launching a new video series focused on storm safety. These videos provide essential information on how to prepare for, respond to and recover from severe weather events.
This visual resource equips customers with the knowledge necessary to stay safe and minimize risks associated with electricity and power outages during severe weather.
“With the potential for severe weather during the summer months, we want customers to be well-informed and prepared,” said David Robinson, director of region operations and incident commander during weather events at APCo. “Our video series breaks down important safety information to help customers prepare for the uncertainty that comes with severe weather.”
Three shorter clips, each focusing on one specific aspect of storm safety, were designed for use on company social media platforms: “Before the Storm,” “During the Storm,” and “After the Storm.” These concise videos are tailored to engage viewers and encourage proactive safety measures in a simple, straightforward manner.
The storm safety video series is available on Appalachian Power’s website and social media channels. Customers are encouraged to watch and share these videos to promote community awareness and preparedness, especially for elderly friends and neighbors.
