Appalachian Power Company (APCo) is actively responding to a mineral oil release resulting from an equipment failure at its Wyoming Station in the Clear Fork Area of Wyoming County. Mineral oil is commonly used to cool electrical transformers.

Southwest Virginia landowners share input on proposed transmission project

APCo representatives and landowners met at recent open houses to discuss the Claytor-Floyd Transmission Line Rebuild Project. If approved by the Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC), the project would replace 1940s-era infrastructure with modern equipment to increase electric reliability and reduce the need for frequent maintenance.

Appalachian Power seeks recovery of transmission costs in Virginia

If approved by the Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC), this change will increase the monthly bill for a residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt-hours by $1.58, or approximately 0.9%, effective in March 2026.
