Beginning March 13, the Appalachian Power energy-efficiency team will staff five regional home shows across the company’s service territory: two in Virginia and three in West Virginia. The events give Appalachian Power representatives, including customer-service staff and authorized contractors, a chance to connect directly with customers and promote available programs and services. By maintaining a visible presence at local home shows, the company helps customers learn practical ways to reduce energy use, improve home comfort and lower monthly electric bills.
Appalachian Power’s energy-efficiency initiatives, offered through the TakeCharge Virginia and TakeCharge West Virginia programs, give customers access to rebates, incentives and free home energy assessments. The programs help residential customers understand their energy use and encourage adoption of efficient technologies and practices that reduce consumption and improve affordability. Participation can support long-term savings and contribute to a more efficient, reliable electric system across the region.
The shows are:
- March 13-15 — WSAZ Home and Garden Show, Huntington, West Virginia
- March 20-22 — Wheeling Garden & Life Expo, Wheeling, West Virginia
- March 21-22 — NRV Home Expo, Christiansburg, Virginia
- April 10-12 — WV Home Show, Charleston, West Virginia
- April 18-19 — The Spring Home Show, Salem, Virginia
Staffing five home shows early in the program year lets the energy-efficiency team reach a broad audience during a peak season for home-improvement planning. Attendees often seek information on upgrades, making home shows an ideal setting to discuss efficient appliances, weatherization, smart thermostats and other qualifying improvements.
Each event will be staffed by knowledgeable team members who can answer questions, explain program eligibility, review home energy usage breakdowns, discuss billing and assistance options, and guide attendees to appropriate offerings. Staff will distribute educational materials and information about available incentives and services. Community Housing Partners will demonstrate how common home issues can cost households money if left unaddressed, and attendees at Virginia shows will receive free home energy kits with household items that can be quickly installed to help save money.*
By supporting these home shows, the energy-efficiency team demonstrates Appalachian Power’s ongoing commitment to customer engagement and community outreach. The events play an important role in raising program awareness, encouraging participation and helping customers take charge of their energy use.
*Only available to Virginia Appalachian Power customers who have not received a kit within the past five years. Limited quantities available.
