Southwest Virginia is a dental desert, with only 29 dentists for every 100,000 residents. Appalachian Highlands Community Dental Charities is working to expand access to affordable, much-needed dental care across the region. Recognizing the organization’s impact, Appalachian Power provided funding through the APCo Foundation to help purchase dental equipment for seven new treatment rooms currently under construction.

After discovering an osprey nest on a transformer pole, an APCo line crew worked with Environmental team members to relocate it to newly constructed avian platform, reducing outage risks while protecting wildlife.
In a powerful collaboration, the Appalachian Power Foundation has partnered with the Taubman Museum of Art to offer free admission to all, fostering a greater appreciation for the arts within our community. This initiative not only breaks down financial barriers but also brings people together to explore and enjoy diverse artistic expressions.
Earlier this month, APCo lineworker Chanze Gilbert got a call about a power outage in Mason County, W.Va., just days after Winter Storm Fern struck the region.
