North Charleston storeroom employees lend a helping hand

September 13, 2023

North Charleston storeroom employees donated supplies to support flood recovery efforts in eastern Kanawha County, W.Va.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Appalachian Power employees aren’t strangers to rendering aid to their communities in times of need. After learning about flooding that devastated eastern Kanawha County, W.Va. in late August, employees felt compelled to lend a helping hand.

James Casdorph, an Appalachian Power storeroom employee, remembered there were unused, leftover cleaning supplies and materials in the North Charleston Service Center. “Knowing the floods happened close to home and that we had extra supplies, I sought approval from management to make a donation,” said Casdorph.

After receiving management approval, Casdorph enlisted the help of his fellow storeroom employees, Luke Koontz and Dylan Paxton. Together they packaged the supplies, and the materials were soon ready to be donated.

By early September, the storeroom employees delivered the materials to the Town Hall of Belle to support flood recovery efforts in eastern Kanawha County.

Bleach, disinfectant, waste disposal bags, paper towels, and bottled water were among the items donated.
