Meter Collar Devices

Meter collar devices (commonly referred to as Generlink) are approved for use within Appalachian Power’s service area (WV, VA, TN). The device must be purchased by the customer and installed by the utility. Please note that Appalachian Power does not supply or sell these meter collar devices—customers must obtain the device independently. Customers will be required to sign a liability waiver and pay a $100 trip charge for installation.

Note: meter collar devices cannot be installed on 60-amp meter bases or on bases rated above 200 amps.

Steps for installation:

• Access Meter Collar Device - Application in PowerClerk and complete application.
• Completed application will be sent to Appalachian Power. Once reviewed and approved, customer will be sent a liability waiver in Docusign.
• Upon receipt of Docusign waiver, customer will be sent an invoice through PowerClerk for the $100 fee with available payment options (Checks are not mailed to Appalachian Power).
• Upon receipt of payment, order is generated to our meter department and typically installed within 10 business days. We request the device be on the premise (preferably close to existing meter base) and accessible to the servicer (customer does not need to be present).
