PSO Offers Enhanced WindChoice Program

February 14, 2014

TULSA, Okla., February 14, 2014 – Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) has made it easier for customers to take advantage of Oklahoma wind energy, and at a lower cost.

PSO has reduced the cost of its WindChoice program by more than 40 percent and is also offering customers more flexibility on the amount of wind energy they purchase.  WindChoice is a voluntary program that allows customers to buy Oklahoma wind power for all or a portion of their energy needs.

WindChoice is available to PSO’s residential, commercial and industrial customers – including municipalities, governmental organizations, school districts and educational institutions.

“PSO is pleased to now offer customers even better options through the WindChoice program,” said Bobby Mouser, PSO’s Director of Customer Services and Marketing.  “By providing a lower price and greater flexibility, we’re making it easier than ever for our customers to take advantage of and promote the tremendous energy resource that is our Oklahoma wind.”

With WindChoice, customers who sign up to participate may choose how much of their energy usage is supplied by Oklahoma-produced wind power.  They may purchase part or all of their monthly electricity in 100 kilowatt-hour blocks or as a percentage of their total monthly billed usage.

A typical PSO residential customer could subscribe almost half of their usage for just an extra $5 a month.

The electricity generated for PSO’s WindChoice program comes from the Minco Wind Farm, a 99-megawatt facility in western Oklahoma which is dedicated to supplying power for the program.

Eligible residential customers can sign up online for WindChoice at PSOklahoma.com/WindChoice, or by calling the PSO customer solutions center, toll-free, at 1-888-216-3523.

Commercial and industrial customers can enroll using the same methods as residential customers, or by contacting their PSO account representative.
