Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) customers will notice a change in the look of their billing statements next month. I&M changed the bill design to make it simpler and easier to read. It will also help customers better manage energy consumption.

The new design is the result of a comprehensive process.I&M customers participated in focus groups to help the company find out what customers wanted in terms of the information that is provided on a statement.

 “Customers told us they wanted a bill that provides information they can use to manage their energy costs, and they wanted it in a format that is clear and concise," says Barry Wiard, I&M director of Customer Services and Marketing.

Some features of the new design include an account summary table at the top of the statement to quickly identify important information such as account number, bill due date and amount due and a larger messaging area that will appear on the front of the bill to draw attention to important information.

 “The new bill features a bar chart showing energy usage for up to 13 months,” added Wiard. “In addition, a new table compares the current month’s energy usage, cost and weather against the same data for the previous month and the same month of the prior year.”
