Update: Power Watch Continues – Conservation Needed During Morning Hours

February 10, 2011

ERCOT is monitoring the grid closely this morning as we near the morning peak hours. We are still asking consumers to conserve electricity during 6-9 am. The forecast for peak demand this morning has been increased to nearly 60,000 MW.

At this time, we have additional reserves online as an extra precaution, and we are not anticipating any state-wide rotating outages at this point. However, a significant number of generation outages, such as we experienced last week, could change that outlook, so we appreciate your continued support by reducing your energy consumption where possible.
There is a higher risk of rotating outages in the Rio Grande Valley area this morning due to transmission line limitations.

ERCOT’s peak demand yesterday, Wednesday, was 55,870 MW, during the 7-8 pm hour.
