Appalachian Power takes pride in working with local, regional and state organizations to promote economic growth and to bring new jobs and business to our communities. As part of the 11-state American Electric Power system, Appalachian Power has the resources and extensive economic development experience to help businesses of all sizes, from small start-ups to large international companies. Our economic development director can work strategically with businesses and communities, as well as state and local officials to facilitate location and expansion offers throughout Appalachian Power’s service territory. Such services are complimentary and confidential.

Grants For Economic Development Organizations

Appalachian Power offers Economic Development Growth Enhancement (EDGE) grants of up to $20,000 to nonprofit city, county, or regional economic development organizations in our service territory. These grants support marketing and promotion, business retention and expansion, or programs to support site and building development. For more information, see:

Appalachian Power has established economic development assistance programs to help state, regional and local economic development organizations with funding to address business attraction, strategic planning, industrial park engineering studies, marketing outreach initiatives, and training and professional development. A few of the programs funded in 2014 are listed below:
