The PATH transmission line, a planned 765 kV line that will be built as a joint venture between American Electric Power and Allegheny Energy, will originate at the John Amos Power Plant substation in Putnam County and end at Allegheny Energy’s Bedington substation near Martinsburg, W.Va, a distance of 244 miles. An additional 46-mile twin-circuit 500 kV transmission line is planned by Allegheny from Bedington to a new substation near Kemptown, Md. Open houses being held this summer are providing residents the chance to view the preliminary routing plans and discuss the route with siting engineers.
