Appalachian Power has identified a need to connect three existing electric substations in as part of an electric system upgrade in the electric system that serves customers in Montgomery County, the Town of Blacksburg and the Town of Christiansburg. The Falling Branch-Merrimac Transmission Reinforcement Project involves the construction of approximately eight miles of 138 kilovolt (kV) transmission line.
